Nu sur tapie II
Ilana Baumgarten-Wajsblat
A variation on the theme established in its predecessor, this 1995 work (located in the Ralph Zurich collection) refines the study of the figure in the interior. While the elements remain consistent—the emerald skin tones, the patterned rug, the wash of window light—the perspective shifts slightly, offering a more intimate, tighter framing of the subject. Ilana creates a dialogue between the two paintings, exploring how subtle changes in composition alter the emotional weight of the scene. Here, the brushwork feels even more rhythmic and the red accents of the carpet vibrate more intensely against the cool palette of the skin. It demonstrates the artist’s commitment to exhaustion of a subject, returning to the same quiet moment to extract every nuance of light and color.
