Bois de Boulogne II
Ilana Baumgarten-Wajsblat
Transforming the familiar tranquility of the park into a dynamic explosion of motion, this 2005 work pulls the viewer into a secluded world. Ilana captures the essence of the Bois de Boulogne through energetic, sweeping gestures that suggest a brisk wind. A central structure in bold crimson anchors the composition amidst lush greens and dark pines, while flashes of fiery orange suggest the changing seasons. The sky churns with white and blue impasto, mirroring the water below. It reminds us that even within the confines of Paris, the wildness of nature persists, offering a colorful and necessary refuge for the human spirit.
