Titanic, le naufrage 2:2

Ilana Baumgarten-Wajsblat

Amidst a churning abyss of cold blue, a solitary lifeboat fights for survival. This 2005 companion piece shifts the narrative from the sinking leviathan to the fragile humanity left in its wake. Ilana employs a tempest of thick, swirling brushstrokes to create a sense of freezing cold. The lifeboat is rendered in a violent, urgent red that cuts through the gloom. Inside, huddled silhouettes suggest survivors clinging to life. While the first panel captured destruction, this work focuses on the intimate horror of the aftermath, standing as a poignant meditation on isolation and resilience.
